How does the Fund distribute PPE items to each country?
The Fund establishes an agreement with the Ministry of Health and at least one supporting non-governmental health partner in each country. In advance of being approved for a donation, each country provides an assessment of the distribution plan and supply chain capacity (storage and transport) to the Fund to demonstrate the resources available to ensure that donated supplies reach the last mile from the port of entry.
How does the Fund ensure that the supplies reach the intended end-user?
The Fund works with colleagues in the Ministry of Health and in-country partners to oversee the donation from the port of entry to the point of service, where it is received by the health workers who will use the equipment in their day-to-day work on the frontlines. VillageReach conducts the end-use verification processes with the non-governmental in-country partners to document arrival and distribution of the equipment, as well as with the Ministry of Health lead taking responsibility for the shipment.
The Collaborative works closely with in-country partners and Ministries of Health to proactively scope PPE allocation at the onset of engagement, prioritizing community health needs and ensuring the PPE gets delivered to the last mile.
